Restrepo-Mieth Analyzes Colombia’s Municipal Water Affordability Programs

Analysis of data from 25 municipalities in Colombia using Qualitative Comparative Analysis shows that three factors are closely related to program adoption and implementation: public utility ownership, program design flexibility that allows municipalities to accommodate their spending capacity, and geographical proximity to early adopters.

Cantor, Yedidia Identify Strategies to Provide Health Care to Homeless

A study by Joel Cantor and Michael Yedidia published in The Milbank Quarterly found that partnerships between housing and health care organizations significantly improve services for people experiencing homelessness by making better use of limited resources. Through interviews with administrators and frontline providers in eight New Jersey programs, researchers identified strategies such as co-locating services, maintaining strong inter-organizational communication, and tailoring care to client needs.

Pre-major advising sessions give interested undergraduates an opportunity to learn about our undergraduate program offerings. “My experiences using public transit in NJ and NY made me curious about how towns and cities were designed and why certain places are more car-dependent than others. After taking Methods of Planning and Analysis, I began discussing ideas and existing research on basic needs insecurity with Professor Bernadette Baird-Zars. Joining her research team and studying integration and affordable housing helped shape my interest in pursuing a career that works with underserved communities to create change at the local scale.”
