SUMMARY:18th Annual Krueckeberg Doctoral Conference in Urban Studies\, Urban Planning\, and Public Policy
DESCRIPTION:The Bloustein School will present the 18th Annual Krueckeberg Doctoral Conference in Urban Studies\, Urban Planning\, and Public Policy on Friday\, March 13\, 2026. The conference is organized by doctoral students for doctoral students engaged in urban planning\, urban studies\, health\, and policy-related research across disciplines and universities in the tri-state NJ-NY-PA metropolitan region. Named after Professor Donald A. Krueckeberg\, the conference commemorates Don Krueckeberg’s long-running commitment to doctoral education by providing a one-day forum highlighting doctoral student research at the cutting edge of urban studies\, planning\, and public policy. \nDoctoral students at any stage of dissertation research are invited and encouraged to present their work at the conference. First-year doctoral students are invited to participate to try out a topic\, and advanced candidates may present sections of research or a finished dissertation\, or anywhere in between. Past presentations have outlined tentative research topics\, surveyed literature\, reported interim findings\, and overviewed completed dissertations. The conference aims to encourage questions\, comments\, and discussions during each session. \nAGENDA \n8:30 – 9:00 AM ··· Breakfast\n9:00 – 9:15 AM ··· Welcome & Introduction\n9:15 – 10:05 AM ··· Panel 1 — Health & Equity |     Discussant: Sharifa Z. SUMMARY:PhD Colloquium: Methodologies for Teamworking in Eco-Outwards Research
DESCRIPTION:METEOR came from the perception that doctoral study is largely an individual endeavor\, focused on a single\, specialized disciplinary topic. On the other hand\, the world of work requires a wider range of skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others. METEOR activities include forming peer mentoring groups and the preparation of transformative research and innovation proposals. These are designed to promote so-called ‘transversal skills’\, networking across disciplines and institutions\, and a more powerful vision of what research can achieve. \nIn this seminar Dr. Peter Gray\, Freelance Educational Consultant\, evaluator and editor\, will briefly outline the principles of METEOR\, its activities and how it is taking the world of doctoral education into the future. We would like to spread our message to doctoral students outside Europe so that they can use the power of collaboration to stay ahead in their research and their post-doctoral careers. \nPlease check your email for the Zoom link. All Colloquia are in person in Room 490 and on Zoom.
