SUMMARY:Demographic and Fiscal Modeling for Environmental Planning:  New tools from NSF-funded projects
DESCRIPTION:This event will introduce new planning tools for assessing the impacts of development and disasters on local public finances. especially the local property tax. Attendees will learn about a new\, freely accessible online database of residential demographic multipliers for estimating the population and service needs associated with increments or decrements of housing development. They will also gain experience with a new\, free\, accessible\, online modeling tool for estimating the local fiscal impacts of disaster scenarios. \nBoth tools have been validated for New Jersey and can be used in all 50 U.S. states. Attendees will also learn the results of a public opinion survey regarding how to manage flood risks in New Jersey. \n\n\n\n\nPLEASE NOTE: This is a hybrid event. DESCRIPTION:Along with our co-sponsoring organizations\, the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP) is honored to welcome U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester as the 2025 Honorary Senator Wynona Lipman Chair in Women’s Political Leadership at Rutgers University. Senator Blunt Rochester made history in 2024 as Delaware’s first woman and first Black person elected to the U.S. Senate. \nSenator Blunt Rochester will speak in this year’s event titled\, “Citizen to Changemaker: Making Your Voice Matter.” The discussion will explore the power of civic engagement\, the impact of representation\, the role race and gender play in U.S. politics\, and how individuals can drive meaningful change. \n📅 Date: Tuesday\, April 22\, 2025 \n⏰ Time: 7:00 PM \n📍 Location: Rutgers Academic Building Room 2400 \nThis event is free and open to the public\, but registration is required.  \nThe Senator Wynona Lipman Chair in Women’s Political Leadership was created to honor the legacy of the late state Senator Wynona Lipman\, the first Black woman to serve in the New Jersey State Senate. The Lipman Chair is intended to celebrate Senator Lipman\, remind people of her achievements\, and encourage others to follow in the footsteps of this path-breaking Black woman leader. DESCRIPTION:The members of the 2024-25 Bloustein Honors Research Program cohort will be presenting their individual research projects in a Research Poster Session on Thursday\, April 24\, from noon to 2:00 pm \nThey will also present an Oral Thesis Defense on Thursday\, May 1\, noon to 2:30 pm\, room 369 \nDuring the poster session\, students will present a brief overview of their project and answer questions from the audience about the poster portrayal of their work. During the oral thesis defense\, each student will give a 15-minute academic research presentation about their project and answer questions from the faculty\, leadership\, and others in the audience.

DESCRIPTION:**** THIS EVENT WAS RESCHEDULED FROM FEBRUARY **** \n  \nPlease join us for the Rutgers Health Management Perspectives Lecture Series at the Bloustein School\, created to bring leading voices in health management and policy to engage with our Rutgers community. This event will be presented by Daniel Gentry\, PhD\, MHA\, President and CEO\, Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA). \n\nHe will be discussing\, “Leading at the Intersection of Healthcare & Higher Education.” \n\n\nDan Gentry is president & CEO of AUPHA. Previously\, he held faculty and academic leadership positions at Saint Louis University\, Rush University\, the University of Memphis\, and the University of Iowa. Gentry has taught in the areas of health policy\, health systems\, healthcare management and leadership\, and professional development. His research has included the financing\, organization\, and delivery of health services\, health policy\, the patient experience\, and the transition to new healthcare payment models. \nGentry has served in chapter leadership for the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) in three regions of the U.S. and as Chair of ACHE’s LGBTQ Forum. He is a past Fellow\, Board Member\, and Board Chair of CAHME and a past and current Board Member of AUPHA. He is a longtime member of NAHSE and a new member of NALHE. Gentry earned his BA from the College of Charleston\, MHA from MUSC\, and PhD in Health Services & Policy Analysis from UC Berkeley.
