SUMMARY:VTC Distinguished Lecture--Overbuilt: The High Costs and Low Rewards of US Highway Construction
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Erick Guerra will explore how America’s infrastructure legacy continues to shape our transportation future. Drawing from his new book\, Overbuilt: The High Costs and Low Rewards of US Highway Construction\, he will examine how the Interstate Highway System set the stage for decades of policy favoring excessive road construction. His talk will unpack how outdated metrics and rigid funding structures continue to influence transportation decisions—and what’s needed to create a more balanced\, sustainable approach. \nDr. Guerra is a Professor of Regional Planning and Associate Dean for Research at the University of Pennsylvania’s Weitzman School. His research focuses on the intersections of land use\, transportation\, and public health. \nAttendees will have a chance to win one of 10 signed copies of the book! \nJoin us at 4:30 PM for a reception with light refreshments. \nLecture begins at 5:00 PM. \nRSVP HERE: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/vtc-distinguished-lecture-with-erick-guerra-phd-tickets-1564007782379?aff=oddtdtcreator
