The pressure is on to do something about corporate tax credits — $5.4 billion and counting, most of which have been doled out in the Christie years — including calls on the governor to freeze them. Their impact is anyone’s guess, because the program has not been evaluated. One thing we do know, though, is the nation has recovered 135 percent of the jobs it lost during the Great Recession, while New Jersey is lagging behind, having recovered only 68 percent of its jobs (to Pennsylvania’s 102 percent and New York’s 245 percent).
