Sen. Bill Bradley to present inaugural Florio Distinguished Scholar policy lecture, April 12

April 4, 2016

Sen. Bill Bradley, who represented the state of New Jersey in the U.S. Senate from 1979-97 and is currently a managing director of Allen & Company LLC, will present the inaugural Gov. James J. Florio Distinguished Visiting Scholar in Public Policy Lecture on Tuesday, April 12, 4:00 p.m., at the Gov. James J. Florio Special Events Forum, Civic Square Building, 33 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ, on the campus of Rutgers University.

Sen. Bradley’s lecture is titled, “We Can All Do Better—A discussion on bipartisan cooperation and how we can all do a better job of moving our country forward.” In his recent book of the same name, Sen. Bradley offers a concise, powerful, and highly personal review of the state of the nation. Bradley argues that government is not the problem. In this lecture, he will discuss the role of money and politics, explain how continuing on our existing foreign policy, electoral, and economic paths will mean a diminished future, and lay out a framework of what needs to be done to reverse course.

In partnership with the offices of Florio, Perrucci, Steinhardt, & Fader LLC, the Bloustein School recognizes Gov. Florio’s public service career through the endowment of a high-level visiting scholar. The annual Governor James J. Florio Distinguished Visiting Scholar of Public Policy will be a former senior government official or policy practitioner, focusing on an issue that was central to his legislative and gubernatorial career. Sen. Bill Bradley is the inaugual scholar.

The event is free and open to the public.
