On Monday, October 29 Hooshang Amirahmadi, Professor and Director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, will present, “The Middle East in Transition: Prospects for Democratic Change and Implications for U.S. Policy” as part of the Bloustein School’s Faculty Research Presentation series.

This talk will cover four key questions about the current movements in the Middle East, including the so-called Arab Spring:
1. What are the ideological underpinnings of the movements?
2. Who are the participants and why are they so grieved?
3. What are the key obstacles to expected democratic change?
4. Will the U.S. be a net loser or winner of a Middle East in transition?

The event will begin at 4:00 p.m. and will be held in Room 369 of the Civic Square Building, 33 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ. If interested in attending this event, RSVP is requested to RSVP@ejb.rutgers.edu.
