Bloustein School launches new Honors Research Program

March 7, 2019

The Bloustein School’s Honors Research Program provides students with an opportunity to conduct in-depth, honors level research in planning, public policy, public health, and health administration. The Program may replace the capstone experience required of all Bloustein majors (6-credit internship, or the 3-credit internship and Senior Seminar). It is highly recommended for students who plan to attend graduate school.

“The Honors Program is a year-long 6-credit course for rising seniors,” said Marc D. Weiner, Director of Undergraduate Programs at the Bloustein School. “It involves both a peer classroom learning environment and research with an individual Bloustein faculty mentor.” Students may pursue a wide variety of topics, such as health disparities, community development, transportation planning and policy, global health, environmental policy, and more.

Bloustein majors planning to graduate in May 2020 must have an overall GPA of 3.00 or higher and a major GPA of 3.60 or higher. Students not meeting these criteria may still apply to the program through an “alternate acceptance route.” The application process is now open and the deadline to apply is May 15, 2019.
