Celine Labelle, EJB (Public Health) ’20 was selected by the National Office of the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) House of Delegates as the recipient of the SOPHE 2019 Chapter Student Recognition Award. The award provides a $500 scholarship to use for travel to the SOPHE Annual Meeting and is awarded to a deserving graduate or undergraduate full-time student in health education.

“Celine is an outstanding student in public health and I am consistently impressed with her motivation as well as her abilities,” said Amy E. Abruzzi, Ph.D., MPH, MLS, CPH, MCHES, Assistant Teaching Professor and Public Health Program Coordinator, Undergraduate Programs. “Sheis incredibly dedicated and poised and learns whatever is needed to get the job done. Celine is truly one of our stars and is headed for an amazing career.”

Celine has served as the president of the Bloustein Public Service Association since September 2018, an undergraduate student organization is dedicated to providing a forum for students interested in public service initiatives. In addition to being a member of Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences Honors Program, she is one of four students chosen to participate in the inaugural Bloustein Honors Research Program, a select group of students who are provided the opportunity to conduct in-depth research that aligns with the applied research conducted by Bloustein School faculty.

She has also assisted Dr. Abruzzi, for the past two years, on various outreach efforts aimed at her fellow undergraduates at Bloustein, including coordinating information and events concerning public health career and graduate school pathways.
