Lowrie is recipient of Richard J. Burk Outstanding Service Award at 2018 SRA Annual Conference

Karen W. Lowrie, Associate Director for the Bloustein School’s Environmental Analysis and Communications Group and Managing Editor of the Journal of Planning Education and Research, was one of two recipients of the 2018 Richard J. Burk Outstanding Service Award at the Society for Risk Analysis (SRA) Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The award is granted in recognition of extraordinary service to the Society that deserves special recognition.  She has served as Managing Editor for the SRA’s international journal, Risk Analysis since 2008.

The other recipient was Louis Anthony Cox, Jr., Ph.D., from Cox Associates. Terje Aven, president of the Society for Risk Analysis, presented the awards.

At the meeting, SRA awarded a total of six prestigious scholarly and service awards and named three new Fellows at its Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana. These awards recognize nine individuals for their outstanding contributions to the society and to the science of risk analysis. The recipients were selected by a committee of SRA past presidents and approved by the SRA Council.

The Society for Risk Analysis is a multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, scholarly, international society that provides an open forum for all those interested in risk analysis. SRA was established in 1980. Since 1982, it has continuously published Risk Analysis: An International Journal, the leading scholarly journal in the field.
