New resource helps residents find public transportation to reach NJ vaccine sites

February 2, 2021

With support from NJTRANSIT, NJTIP @ Rutgers has prepared an online resource list to help people find public transportation to reach COVID-19 vaccine sites in New Jersey.

“Many people, including essential workers, have limited access to private vehicles or taxis,” said Karen Alexander, managing director of NJTIP @ Rutgers. “Our travel instructors wanted to help residents get to COVID-19 vaccine sites by building a list that details public transit access. The research included consulting a variety of trip planning tools and maps to find and confirm transit resources across the state.”

The list was compiled by NJTIP @ Rutgers’ travel instructors and is based on vaccination locations as of Jan. 13, 2021. All 21 of the state’s counties are included. The list will be updated every two weeks.

To download the list, visit COVID-19 Vaccine Sites – Transit Information List

To get NJ TRANSIT information for a site not yet listed, travelers can contact NJ TRANSIT’s Transit Information Center at 973-275-5555 or can plan their trips online using the NJ TRANSIT websiteGoogle Maps or the Transit App

NJTIP @ Rutgers teaches people how to use public transportation. Its mission is to increase the self-sufficiency of people with disabilities, older adults, and others by empowering them to use public transit and local mobility options safely and independently.  To learn more about the work conducted by NJTIP @ Rutgers travel instructors, visit njtip.rutgers.edu.
