New Start Career Network Job Fair, November 30

November 17, 2016

Are you an individual seeking a new start in your career?

The New Start Career Network and Rutgers University Career Services are hosting a job fair on Wednesday, November 30 at the Busch Student Center, 604 Bartholomew Road, Piscataway, NJ on the Rutgers University campus.  The New Start Career Network (NSCN), a program to serve New Jersey’s older, long-term unemployed job seekers is operated by the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development, a national policy and research center within the Bloustein School.

New Start Career Network members are invited to participate in a job fair featuring dozens of local employers that are seeking candidates for full-time and part-time positions. You must be a NSCN member to attend. Not yet a NCSN member? Join today to attend to this event as well as gain free, personalized career services, web-based information resources, and in-person and virtual career coaching.

Are you an organization seeking experienced, skilled employees?

The New Start Career Network is engaging with employers and employer associations in New Jersey to raise awareness of the thousands of New Jersey job seekers who are trying to escape the long-term unemployment trap. Most have long and often impressive work histories, and many are highly educated, but they lost a job in a tough economy and haven’t made it back. This is especially true for job seekers who are 45 and older, who make up roughly half of New Jersey’s long-term unemployed population. Though they are often overlooked in the applicant pool, according to recent research by AARP, older workers have many of the very qualities and skills that employers are seeking—reliability, loyalty, a strong work ethic, high productivity, strong problem solving abilities, and a depth of experience.

By partnering with the NSCN, you will open up your company to an overlooked source of talent, while also helping the communities and economy of our state.
