Bloustein School mourns the passing of long-time school donor and friend, Ruth Candeub

December 13, 2022

We are saddened to share the passing of Ruth Candeub, a long-time donor and friend of the Bloustein School and Rutgers University Libraries. Ruth passed away in early December 2022.

At the Bloustein School, Ruth established the Isadore Candeub Memorial Lecture and the Isadore Candeub Endowed Graduate Fellowship in Planning in memory of her husband, Isadore. Mr. Candeub had a long and successful career as a planning consultant and extraordinary dedication to planning in towns, cities, and regions across America. Before his passing in 1986 he was chairman of the executive committee of Candeub, Fleissig & Associates, consultants in community development and environmental planning. Following his death, Ruth also arranged for the donation of Isadore’s planning documents to Rutgers Special Collections and University Archives.

A retired educator, Ruth later served as an assistant coordinator for the Senior Medicare Patrol of New Jersey. As a volunteer, she spoke with senior groups in adult communities and engaged in one-on-one counseling about protecting themselves from fraud, waste, and abuse in Medicare and Medicaid. She received national recognition in 2009 for her efforts in this area. Ruth was a long-time resident of Edison, NJ, and regularly attended lectures and other events at the Bloustein School.
