R/ECON conference to discuss NJ's legacy a decade after the start of the Great Recession, Jan. 10

New Jersey has been fundamentally transformed during the long recovery from the Great Recession. What impact does this have on the state’s future economic prospects?

On Wednesday, January 10, 2018, the R/ECON semiannual subscriber conference, “New Jersey’s Legacy a Decade after the Start of the Great Recession,” will tackle this question. The event will be held at the Gov. James J. Florio Special Events Forum, Civic Square Building, 33 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ on the campus of Rutgers University. The event will begin at 10:00 a.m., with networking and light refreshments beginning at 9:15 a.m. in the lobby outside of the Forum.

Featured speakers will be James W. Hughes, Distinguished University Professor, former Bloustein School dean, and co-author of the Rutgers Regional Report and Jeffrey G. Otteau, President, Otteau Group, Inc. Michael L. Lahr, Research Professor and Director of the Rutgers Economic Advisory Service (R/ECON), will follow up with a presentation of the state’s short-term forecast.

Subsequent to the talks, a distinguished panel that will include Michael McGuinness, Chief Executive Officer, NAIOP-NJ; Thomas Bracken, President and CEO of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce; Michael J. Darcy, Executive Director, New Jersey State League of Municipalities; and Michele N. Siekerka, Esq., President and CEO, New Jersey Business & Industry Association will assess the current economic and demographic status of the state and examine the long-term cyclical economic journey that has brought New Jersey to its current destination.
